And sure, those are beautiful, also special, but to be honest with you — my heart always goes back to the hills around Matale. The quiet, the green, the sound of birds in the early morning… that’s the Sri Lanka I know and love.You can see a lot of things here.

When i visited first time. I saw elephants crossing the dry plains of Wasgamuwa.It is a normal thing. The air was dusty and golden from the setting sun, and the only sound was the soft thud of their feet and birds flying overhead.It is special for birdwatching. There were no big crowds or noisy jeeps — just me and nature. ,I am sure you are lucky. You might spot a leopard or a sloth bear here. But even without that, the place feels raw and real.

This place is huge, a special new one in this area,but you won’t feel small here — you’ll feel peaceful. One evening,when I came to Dambulla with my familly. I sat by the water for nearly short time, watching local fishermen casting their nets. The blue sky turned orange and the water looked like a giant mirror. Every things are nice.It’s a perfect place to sit and think, especially at sunset.

This one’s a bit of a hidden gem. Close to the real center point srilanka Not many people know about it, and that’s what I love.You can stay afternoon here,no more people here, watching the clouds roll by and listening to the wind. It’s quiet, it’s simple, and it’s real.
Wemedilla Reservoir— Nature escapes around Matale”
This place always looks like a painting to me.Another one is place very close to our homestay. The green around the water is so fresh, it feels alive. In the mornings, you hear birds echoing across the water.It is big one. In the evenings, the world slows down.This is nice place for watch sunset. A perfect spot for a slow walk or even a small picnic with local fruits and tea.
Kandalama Reservoir— Nature escapes around Matale”
This one feels magical. Mist floated above the water, and birds danced across the trees. In the distance, you could see Sigiriya Rock. There was no noise — just peace. If you’re someone who loves nature with a touch of quiet luxury,stay with relaxed you’ll fall in love with this place.

After a trek in the Knuckles mountains, dipping your feet in Telgamu Oya is the best reward. It flows over smooth rocks into little natural pools. I’ve watched village kids laughing and splashing around here — their joy is so real, it’s contagious. But especially remember water level can go up at any time.The water’s cold and clean, and on a hot day, it feels perfect.

Sembuwatta is one of those places you feel more than see.Before this is not a famous place but now very famous It’s surrounded by tall pine trees, and the air smells like mist and soil. It’s a great place for a peaceful picnic, maybe with some homemade snacks and ginger tea.

You’ll hear it before you see it — the sound of water rushing down the rocks. Huluganga is alive, especially after the rains. The road there winds through tiny villages and thick forest. Every bend has a new view, and I always stop for photos. Nature feels strong and proud here.

This is a different kind of nature — not wild,this is close to place main road.also you can see now many spice gardens here. but full of life. Walking through the spice garden, the smells of cinnamon,(we have world best cinnemon) cardamom, and nutmeg hit you all at once. Guests are always surprised by how fresh everything is. And when they learn how we use these spices in daily cooking and medicine, they’re amazed.
Alakola Estate— Nature escapes around Matale”
Near Elkaduwa,some outside of matale city, this estate mixes tea fields with vegetable gardens. I shared tea with an old farmer who said the land “speaks” to him. That stayed with me. The place feels honest and warm.

Dumbara Area (Knuckles Region)- — Nature escapes around Matale”
Dumbara is special. It’s part of the Knuckles, but it’s more than just hills and trails. The people here live close to the land. They farm, weave, and cook with firewood. The air smells like earth and tradition. It is very special .Sometimes, when the wind is soft, you can almost hear the songs of the hills. Dumbara doesn’t just show you something — it changes you.
