The main walking trail is around 9.5 kilometers in a loop. It usually takes 3 to 5 hours, depending on your pace and how often you stop to just… breathe and take it all in. I recommend going left when you reach the Y-junction—most people say that path feels gentler.but if you are like right it is not a problem

The first time I did this hike, we met a friendly sambar deer right near the path. You can see a lot of deer here He looked straight at us with calm eyes, like he’d seen a thousand visitors before. It is normal, Many of them probably tried to feed him, people love it, honestly, but trust me—please don’t. Let them stay wild and safe.

I remember one part of the trail where frost had lightly covered the grass. It sparkled under the rising sun. I stood there in silence, not wanting to move.Yes Moments like that… they stay with you.

. you might spot one of Sri Lanka’s giant squirrels. They’re fluffy, curious, and often bouncing around early in the morning. I saw one once, nibbling something high up in a tree—it felt like watching a secret moment from nature’s own diary.try catch it

Stop 4: Chimney Pool

A quiet, very beautiful, lovely stop along the way. The water is still and glassy, and the area feels almost untouched peoples alwayss I like to call it one of Horton Plains’ hidden gems.
Plants, Flowers, and That One Yellow Troublemaker

If you love plants, Horton Plains is a dream, especially for it. You’ll see bright purple Bovitiya, the famous Maha Rathmal,(these are local name) and all sorts of endemic species found only here. Those are some special flowers in Sri Lanka But sadly, there’s a yellow-flowered invasive plant that’s started spreading fast—it’s quite pretty, but it’s choking out the native plants.sometimes it is not good
I always wish more visitors would notice the small things.for you The moss is growing on old trees. . The way flowers bloom quietly under the mist.

That Magical Exit

On our way back, something incredible happened. Within minutes, the whole area was swallowed by thick mist.it is normal can be happen any time We couldn’t see more than a few feet ahead. It felt like the forest was slowly closing its curtains for the day. I had to drive back in near silence, crawling through the fog—and even though I was tired, it felt like the perfect ending. Like nature was reminding us: you came, you saw, now go in peace.yes it is true
